What are the most important issues facing your neighborhood in the next two years and how do you plan to address them?

ANCs do not receive enough respect from local government officials in terms of their service delivery to residents. To the best of my ability, I make decisions and recommendations to city officials based on the needs and best interests of the residents that I represent. Unfortunately, few of my/our recommendations are acted on in the comprehensive and the expeditious way that they are suggested and, as a result, citizen dissatisfaction with the way the government is delivering needed services to them is rather high. During this term, I plan to work twice as hard as I have in the past to change this situation in order that my constituents will be able to receive the services that they require and deserve in the proper way. While circumstances in my Single Member District have been continuously improving over the years, the Edgewood community still has a number of serious public safety concerns that must be better responded to by officials in our local government and we have streets, alleys, sidewalks and other thoroughfares that are need of repair. We desperately need to expand upon the existing number of recreation and leisure time programs and activities for residents, most particularly for our children, and we urgently need to improve upon the quality of education that our students currently receive in the DC Public Schools throughout the city. Perhaps needless to say, I will continue pursue answers to these complicated social problems with passion over the next two years and I will not rest until they are resolved.

Commissioner Phillips's Single Member District (SMD) was previously listed as 5C09 before Census 2000 redistricting.
